KBIA Concussion Resource Program

Keep your Brain Safe and Healthy

Concussion Basics

  • A Concussion is a mild form of a Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI) that cannot be seen on CT scans or MRIs.

  • Any blow to the head, neck, face, or body that jars the head could result in a concussion.

  • Symptoms can appear immediately or up to 48 hours later. They usually last 1 - 4 weeks but can sometimes take months to heal.

  • Treatment depends on the individual injury and always includes rest and gradual return to activities.
